History

Southern history abounds in Marietta!  Start with a narated trolley tour with Marietta Trolley.  Walk to the Marietta Museum of History and the Gone with the Wind Museum.  Marietta is on the Civil War Heritage Trail. Focus on nearby Civil War history.  Visit the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield museum and/or hike the trails.  The Illinois Monument at Cheatham Hill is impressive.  Marietta has both a National Cemetery and a Confederate Cemetery.

Antiques

We have plenty of treasures in the Stanley House that we found at the local antique shops.  Dupres and Marina Marina are right on the Marietta Square.  The  Cobb Antique Mall, the Marietta Antique Mall, A Classy Flea, and the Queen of Hearts Marietta are all a short drive away.

Art

The first Friday of every month is the Art Walk on the Marietta Square.  All of the Galleries, and many of the other shops, stay open late.  And, artists who do not typically display in the galleries set up shop on the sidewalks.  Musicians join in on every crner and it is very lively and entertaining.  Browse the art work of one of our favorites, Susan Easton Burns,  at DK Gallery.  Susan was the artist for the offical Kentucky Derby Poster in 2014.

Theater & Concerts

Check out the Earl Strand Theater and the Theater on the Square for live stage events.

Shopping

Shop until you drop at the many boutiques and specialty shops on the Marietta Square.

Bike Trail

The Mountain to River Trail (walking, biking or anything without a motor, dog-friendly) will eventually expand to 13.5 miles from Kennesaw Mountain to the Chattahoochee River.  It is accessible less than a block north of the Stanley House on Kennesaw Avenue (just past the Presbyterian Church).  You can go north (right) to Kennesaw Mountain (about 2 miles) or south (left) to just south of downtown Marietta.  Click here for more information.
