What should you ask about pricing and what is included?

1. What's included in the base price, specifically? (Tables, chairs, linens, setup and breakdown, a coordinator?)

2. Is there a food and beverage minimum, and does it change by season or day of the week?

3. What's the payment schedule, and what happens if you need to adjust it?

4. Are there any fees that show up later that aren't in the initial quote? (Cleaning, security, cake-cutting, overtime.)

5. What's the cancellation and postponement policy?

Ask for these in writing. A venue that is confident in its pricing will hand it over without hesitation.

What to ask a wedding venue about your date and availability

6. Is our date fully available, or is it a "maybe" pending another couple's decision?

7. How many events happen on the property in a single day? Are you sharing the space with another wedding?

8. What time can vendors start setting up, and what time does everything need to be cleared out?

9. Is there a rain plan, and has it actually been used before?

10. How far in advance do we need to finalize our guest count?

11. What's the maximum guest capacity for a seated dinner versus a cocktail-style reception?

12. Where would the ceremony happen if we want it outdoors, and where's the backup indoor spot?

13. Is there a bridal suite or getting-ready space, and is it included or an add-on?

14. What's parking like, and is there overflow parking nearby?

15. Are there accessibility accommodations for guests who need them?

If a venue has real character, like a working brick fireplace or original heart-pine floors, this is the part of the tour where you'll actually feel it.

What to ask about vendors

16. Do we have to use your preferred vendor list, or can we bring our own?

17. If vendors are included, who exactly are they, and can we meet them or see samples of their work first?

18. Is there an in-house coordinator, and what does that role actually cover on the wedding day?

19. Can we do a tasting before we commit to a catering package?

20. What's the alcohol policy? Can we bring our own, or does it have to go through the venue?
